TOWN COUNCILWOMAN
MAURA CURTIN
Maura Curtin was first elected to the Pelham Town Council in 2019. She serves as the Town Library liaison and is dedicated to fostering innovation, transparency, and results for all Pelham residents. Maura’s tangible contributions include securing $450,000 in grants toward the cost of purchasing an ambulance for the Town of Pelham and successfully advocating for stationing a county ambulance near Pelham to speed emergency response times for residents. She also procured $280,000 in state funding to modernize, renovate & increase the Daronco Town House’s capacity for multi-purpose usage by our seniors, recreation, the court, and the town historian.
Maura has excelled at forging meaningful and productive relationships with local, state & federal elected officials in Westchester and the Bronx to benefit all Pelham residents. Her collaboration and partnership with elected officials have been key to driving results for Pelham. Her priorities for continuing to serve on the town council include implementing a permanent multi-year financial plan with the needs of seniors, youth, taxpayers, and future generations in mind.
Maura was born and raised in Mount Vernon and is a proud lifelong Westchester County native, and her family is deeply rooted in civil service. She is married to Charlie Zicari and is mom to Reese, a 6th grader who attends Pelham Middle School and cites her family as her inspiration to serve her community. In 2017, she played an active role in addressing critical structural and overcrowding issues at Hutchinson School and played a pivotal role in passing a $52M school bond in May of 2018. In September of 2021, the brand new Hutchinson Elementary School opened its doors for future generations and with a full-size gymnasium it is used for recreation programming and special events for the larger Pelham community.
Beyond her work in public service, Maura brings a wealth of professional experience to this role; she holds a Political Science degree from Fordham University, was most recently the Managing Director for Senator Alessandra Biaggi’s Political Committee, and an executive for media companies and internet start-ups. Her skills encompass negotiation, budgeting, business development, direct marketing, special events, public relations, and fundraising. In her spare time, you will find her assisting her sister to grow her local small business, volunteering as the treasurer for the PTA at Pelham Middle School, cheering her daughter on at CYO Basketball games at OLPH, or walking the family labradoodle Harper around Chester Park.
